HALLOWEEN SNOW - ASPEN/SNOWMASS RECEIVES 33 CM OF SNOW OVERNIGHT

ASPEN/SNOWMASS VILLAGE, Colo. – Aspen/Snowmass skiers and riders received a surprise Halloween treat as 33cm of snow fell in town and on the ski runs of Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk.

Overnight 33 cm of snow fell with more snow in the forecast. Over the past three days 45cm
of snow has fallen adding to the already significant snow base from snowstorms throughout October and September. Nearly 90cm of snow now blankets the upper slopes at Aspen/Snowmass.

Earlier storms in September and October and continued cold temperatures promise great early season conditions. Aspen Mountain and Snowmass are set to open November 28, 2002. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk are set to open December 14, 2002.

This winter ski season, Aspen/Snowmass guests will find sixteen new double black diamond runs open in Highland Bowl. The new terrain opening in 2002/03 is dotted with trees and is primarily north facing, meaning deep, steep snow conditions all season long. Also, for riders Buttermilk’s Crazy T’rain terrain park is bigger with a dedicated run allowing for even more hits and jumps. The Crazy T’rain terrain park is home to the 2003 ESPN Winter X Games VII, coming to Aspen/Snowmass Jan. 30-Feb 2.
